420a Turbo DYNOED

Well guys I finally got a chance to post up my dyno charts. I was a little disspointed with the numbers. Expected to break the 200whp mark. A/F looked good considering how I tuned it. Checked compression when I got home and its at the service limit. 160psi accross the board. Hopefully it will last till next summer when I can afford to rebuild it. I leaning toward just a factory rebuild. Dont really want to waste the money on forged internals and more tuning devises.

Sorry if you cant really read the graphs to good, my scanner just broke so I tooks pictures of them. My boost hit 10psi and then tappered to about 9. My gauge never went over 8.5psi so I guess its a little off. Anyways tell me what you think.

188WHP and 170Tq

very good numbers to the wheels for a stock 140 flywheel horsepower car you have almost doubled it with 188 to the wheels. Keep it up!

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

Actually dude, you did really well for a 14b at 10 psi, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Stock 1g turbos are rated at 195hp/200tq IIRC from the factory but thats at the flywheel. Figure drivetrain loss in there and you are down to 165ish if I recall the drivetrain loss correctly. Now, I dont know if the 1g's were over rated, under rated, or pretty close but I do know that you are doing pretty damn well at 188whp on 10psi. Keep on truckin dude!

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

Thanks man, the car use to be faster when it was first boosted. I was dumb and tried to see how cheap I could do it and it ended up not paying off. My wastegate creeped like hell and my fuel wouldn't support it when it would spike and that costed me this motor. I strongly believe that the car would have broken 200whp if it would have been dynoed before the motor got weak, the car is still really quick but its going downhill.

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

When I first read the last post I thought you said the car is really quick going downhill. lol.

I like the numbers that were put down. It looks good for basically a stock motor. You should be impressed with that. A rebuild would do you some good; stock or not. Good job!

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

I am very impressed by your numbers. What are you planning on doing when you build the motor?

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

Very nice man. Your one of the few on here that have done/seriously plan on turboing your 420a and I think you did a helluva job with the numbers your getting. How many miles on it since you turboed it? Too bad it cost you a motor in figuring things out. Good luck with the rebuild.

Re: 420a Turbo DYNOED

I only have about 10k on it since the turbo. But that puts the motor at right over 100k
