Escort Door Barrel

Hello,

I am useless with cars normally but I am looking for help on removing a 1994 Ford Escort door lock barrel as my wifes' key will no longer unlock the door and she had to drive home from work yesterday with the alarm blaring.

Any help appreciated,

Many Thanks

Paul

Re: Escort Door Barrel

Might try another key or have a new one cut. Don't know how to remove the barrel of the lock, but can tell you how to remove the lock assembly. You might try some graphite in the lock and on the key. Try some WD-40. You might try switching the L and R door locks. Just use the key on the L one.

1. Remove the door trim panel and weather sheet.
2. Remove the retaining clip and detatch the linkage rod.
3. Pull the lock cyclinder out of the door from the outside.

Re: Escort Door Barrel

Thanks very much for the reply, I will have to do something with one of the locks as a new key will not work and the passenger side lock is also the same, have used copious amounts od WD40 etc and it is still very difficult to open.
