New interest.
So, one day I get a call from my mother from North Carolina. We have a house there. Anyways, so she calls me and says,"Honey, theres a girl here for you!" I was like, "UMM....okay..." I had no idea what to say because my mother has never done this before. So long story short...I talked to the girl, we have contacted each other through internet friend sites, and have spoken on the phone. Come to find out she is soon to be divorced, has a 2 year old and she is 21! I know!!! TTIWWOP...I shouldn't post pics because I should ask permission to put her picture on the web and it would sound creepy because we are so new. And plus I have no idea where the relationship is going. Take my word for it....shes a really beautiful girl. If anything goes further I perhaps could post pics. I am meeting her in August ...so, I'll keep you guys updated on how things go! Wish me luck! haha

Re: New interest.
I wouldn't necessarily say the kid is baggage but his/her dad probably is. Believe me, I've been through it.

Re: New interest.
A kid? Bad news. That kid adds a lot to the equation and limits stuff. Like trying to find a night to go out and have a good time; relies on the babysitter...stuff like that. You're too young to worry about a little one, especially one that isn't your's. Might be a nice girl and stuff, but that kid is a big detour off the main road.

Re: New interest.
While I'm hesitant to do so, now that I think back I agree with the rest of the guys who say a kid is excess baggage. Ive dated girls with kids before (recently) and the little ones were an added factor I didn't really feel like dealing with. I get along with kids fine but sometimes it became bothersome. One girl had a 6yr old son and since his dad was gone he looked to me for a lot of attention. He's a cool little guy but when I was at her house I felt like a babysitter instead of a boyfriend sometimes. Every girl/kid/family is different but thats just one thing to think about.
On the contrary, there were times when being with her and her kids made me feel like I was doing something more important than just hangin out with my gf. I felt like part of a family and even though they weren't my sons they grew on me. But I guess that's all part of me getting older and actually becoming comfortable with the thought of having a family to think about. Afterall I'm an old man at heart

Re: New interest.
You guys raise some very good points. All I have thought about by the way. I love kids, and kids loves me as well. I could see where I could see myself as more a "babysitter" than a boyfriend. We still have ALOT to talk about, which makes it good for my situation. I mean, I am not going to make it the topic of discussion, but if it does come up..and I am sure it will, I will know what to say. I know, doing it is completely different...but that comes with time. I know she is not going to bring her kid around when we hang out the first few times..its pretty much a givin.
I am feeling as if I need to do something important with my life. I want a stable long term relationship. Maybe this is it, you know? Perhaps this is what I need. NOW...the baggage can work 2 ways here. Depending on the situation that went on. It can either work in my favor, or not. Its a long strung out process. But I know there is a high possibility it could work out positive. That being said, I dont know the 3 sides of the story...so we will have to wait and see. -Chris |
