2000 Intrigue maintenance items

Hello all -
I was looking at some of the assemblies on my 3.5L, wondering about maintenance on them, after reading some of the posts here.
1) IAC (idle air control) valve. I took it off, but was not able to move the pintle in or out. There is a small spring on the shaft. Is it normal for this shaft to be immovable?
2) EGR valve. Can this be taken apart? The pintle moved freely. The pintle's end is a Torx screw that rotates freely (doesn't screw in or out). I did not see any way to disassemble this valve.
3) MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Is there a special liquid or way to clean the grid (looks like a small radiator inside the circle)? Is gasoline or starting fluid (ether) OK? I don't see any debris; the cells are clean.
4) Some of you mention cleaning the throttle body. Do you take it off? I was going to, but then discovered that coolant has to be drained first. If it wasn't for that, I'd have had it off yesterday, but thought I would check first. I cleaned as best I could with a rag & fuel, holding the throttle open, but it is obviously not the most thorough way to do it.
5) There are two fuel pipes, with retainers and quick disconnect connectors...but after removing the retainers, they do not appear to disconnect as does the plastic-type quick disconnect at the fuel filter, which doesn't take any tools. Looks like these connectors take a tool. In fact, the manual shows this on 6-936, but sometimes you don't need a tool the manual would officially have you use. So do I really need the tool in this case? Or do they come apart without a special tool?

Thanks for any information.

3. & 4. - I used Carbuerator cleaner to clean the MAF and throttle body plate. Be very careful when drying the wires on the MAF.

Can't help with 1,2 or 5. Others will be along to help.

Re: 2000 Intrige maintenance items

I've never been comfortable spraying anything onto the MAF except for "BlueShower tech spray" which is made for electronics. Personally, I've never cleaned the MAF wires or screen on either of my two cars (65 and 85K miles)

As for the TB and coolant lines ... I would have to go look at the Intrigue, but on the Trans Am, the TB is the high spot on the coolant lines so you can unhook and cap the lines while you remove the TB. If you live in the south where it never gets "artic cold" you can just connect the lines together and bypass the TB ... or hook it back up . Your call.
