A/c Problem Help
My AC does not function. As I push the switch the light goes on but nothing else. I checked the fuse, it was good. The relay was good as well. Relay was checked by swapping the horn relay with the as one and the horn worked. For comparisons I put the horn relay into my ac spot, but ac still wont come on. When I jump the relay my compressor seems to tun on. Finally, the fuse, the relay, and the compressor seem to be ok. What else could be wrong. I did checked the voltages on the relay. Voltage across the control pins on the relay say ~14V, but I noticed that when I switch the ac switch inside the car that voltage does not change, looks suspicious. Is thats normal. How does the relay gets controlled? Look like it has to have 14V on one end and GND on the other end, but nothing changed as the ac switch was pushed. Also voltage across the compressor pins were ~14V and as said before turned the compressor as they were jumped, which is normal. But the control of that relay has the problem on some end. Is it the switch end or the other end? Thank you. Please help.

Re: A/c Problem Help
Did you check test the Maxi fuse ?
plus thier are several other fuses and relays that control the climate control. So I would check the rest of the corisponding fuses and relays in the under hood fuse box. Plus thier are fuses in the driversside FB . Could also be the AC has to low of pressure(or high) to work You could also have a short in the wiring to the compressor and or the head unit could be bad.

Re: A/c Problem Help
ill check the fuses.
i don't think that low pressure will make compressor to not turn on at all, does it??? |

Re: A/c Problem Help
that is right low pressure will cause AC pressure switch to open in order to prevent compressor damage since low pressure will not provide enough lubrication for compressor. What you need to do is to buy one of those cans with r-134a connect that can to your low pressure side, disconnect compressor and use two jumper wires to jump your compressor from your battery so you can get it roll and suck some of R-134a in the system in order for the low pressure cut off switch to kick back in to closed position. Good luck. When you jump it make sure that clutch is engaging if not compressor is bad.

How do I know that clutch is engaged? Should I there be something visual or what? Thank You.

Re: A/c Problem Help
ok do this, engine off, ignition off disconnect your compressor you will see two wire connector. When you do that you will see two male terminals on the compressor connector, use two wires jump those two terminals from your battery with two wires what ever you see that moves is your clutch
if nothing moves clutch or compressor is not working.
