Talking AF Group Build: Tribute To 60 Red Years - Ferrari F430GT #62 ALMS

here is the first of my three (possibly 4 with the F430GT2 #62 2007 Sebring GT2 Class Winner) builds.

this is the Ferrari F430GT that raced in the 2006 ALMS in the GT2 category, this certain model was depicted after the Portland race in which the car #62 won in Class

This is a Tecnomodel in 1/43 and is just amazing. the Photoetch parts are just mind blowing in the 1/43 scale. everything is Photoetch or Metal except a few parts of the car (they are made in Resin).

I'm putting my Nissan on hold to get this car down, cause I know those F248's are gonna be tough.

so here is the opening pics

and Enjoy (I know I will, I don't want to disappoint the Ferari folks )

I didn't realize that with the China model that they give you two extra front noses for a diorama

You're doing an excellent job, the only thing I would recommend is you don't ruin it by not cleaning up the wheels and giving them a polish.

Re: AF Group Build: Tribute To 60 Red Years - Ferrari F430GT #62 ALMS

Lookin' good! Great subject too!
A few weeks ago I went to the ALMS New England Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. I got a few decent shots of the Risi Ferrari. I wasn't able to get any kind of good shots of the engine or interior, but I did get some nice exterior shots.

Hopefully these will be of some help.

This is looking great.
What an incredible amount of detail in such a small kit.

Already looking forward to the finished version !

Re: AF Group Build: Tribute To 60 Red Years - Ferrari F430GT #62 ALMS

Interior and Engine all done except for putting in the shifter that getting resprayed Flat Black

Car Primed with Krylon and Sprayed with Tamiya TS-49 and Cleared with Krylon Clear

I still have some work left on this car to spray like the rear wing supports (which will be Carbon Fibered (the rear wing and side are have a brighter CF and will be fixed with Tamiya Smoke))

Re: AF Group Build: Tribute To 60 Red Years - Ferrari F430GT #62 ALMS

This is such a cool car. It was racing at Road America this weekend (only 2 hours away from me, but yet I still didn't go.... ). I have the video if you want it?

The Krylon clear looks like it dulled the paint. Are you going to polish it out before adding decals? I'm curious how it reacted with the Tamiya acrylic.

Re: AF Group Build: Tribute To 60 Red Years - Ferrari F430GT #62 ALMS

I know, I was right up the road from the track, prolly about 6 hours.

yeah, it is kind of dull, I think I'm gonna go to my Hobby store this week and pick up a Hobby Clear Spray.

I coated it and it looked very nice, but when it dried, it dulled
