93 f250 problem

ok i have a 93 f250 diesel. the truck runs really rich when its idling and when the motor is bone cold like after sittin all night it starts good but once it warms up and i turn it off and it sits for about 45 minutes its a p.i.t.a to start. it does start but takes forever. i turns over slowly and gradually gets faster and faster until it starts while the whole time it is puffin white smoke and when it starts it smokes white for a few mintues. Im in dire need of some help with this thing. Someone please help

Re: 93 f250 problem

Start with the cheap areas first. Get a compression check done. Then consider the glow plugs ( which I doubt is the problem ) and take your injectors off ( mark them per cylinder ) and have them flow tested. The area I'm trying to figure out is that when it is cold it starts great but after cooling down for sometime after warming up its hard to start. Running rich you need to have the injection pump checked. On these older diesels like the 6.9L and 7.3L there isn't much to cause problems like the computer controlled Powerstroke or Cummings.

Re: 93 f250 problem

ive replaced the glow plugs because it was very hard to start when i first got it and everone of them were exploded. ill get my uncle to do a comp. test and he warned me that the injector pump could be going bad...
