Help needed!

I hope this isn't a virus, but I think it is.

Last week my firefox stopped popping up the download window when downloading anything (I have it set up like that). Now today, it takes me to the Japanese version of youtube.

Anyone heard of something like this? Any help is appreciated as always.

Did you try reinstalling Firefox?

First, check the settings in Options / Main / Downloads.

If you don't have any luck there, type about:config in the address bar.

Check the settings that start with browser.download.

That's what I'd check to start with.

Given the reinstall a try and doesn't work.

I think one problem could be a faulty Window Security Update.

I keep getting a ".net passport..." error when shutting down. And got a Win32 error when I turned the comp on.

I'm gonna run some error reports and disk clean up, and go into Safe Mode and run virus scan and Ad-Aware.

Clean out your registry - it probably has some invalid strings in it. Try uninstalling firefox, backup registry, clean the registry, reboot, reinstall firefox.

Just an update. Did some searching and figured out the fix.

If anyone ever has this problem go into Docs & Settings/App. Data/Profiles/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles and delete downloads.rdf.
