94 Caprice LT1 wagon, High voltage reading

I have a 94 LT1 Caprice wagon, and the voltage meter reads very high when started. It also has a dead battery on a daily basis, consistently drains over nite. Does not idle smoothly at all. Any clues?

Re: 94 Caprice LT1 wagon, High voltage reading

What is the voltage reading?

There's a possibility the voltage regulator (a part in the alternator) is not functional, and is causing the water in the battery electrolyte to boil off - leading to the charge issues.
