Quad 4 troubles need some guidance
I have a 1989 Cutlass Calais SL 2.3 quad4 with 47,000 miles. I am missing the injector pulse on injectors 2 and 3. I am also getting code 33 which I know is the MAP and 26 quad driver error. The code 26 I think is from me unhooking the TCC solenoid from a seperate problem. From what I found sifting thru this site that my problem could be the ICM. I have aquired 4 used modules with no luck. All have failed. No ignition at all. Who would have thought I'd get junk from a junk yard.lol. I took the original module to advance auto and auto zone to be tested. They ran it thru 3 tests and all tested green. Are these tests reliable? I don't wanna spend big bucks on a new one just to have it not be the problem. Could someone point me in a different direction? Thank you in advance.

Re: Quad 4 troubles need some guidance
try replacing the spark plugs and check the gap on them. Get some good delco plugs. Dont use anything like crap... er... bosch.
5 bad modules? That is highly unlikely. It sounds like you are not getting good contact between the ICM, and the plugs more than anything. The Quad Driver one is deff for the tranny. |

Thanks for the reply. Spark plugs aren't gonna give me back my missing injector voltage. The ICM's were all bad according to the tests done by AutoZone and Advance Auto. I put the original ICM back on. If anyone else gives a shit about my little problem this is what I found. I took apart the injector harness and found that it had been hillbillied before. Someone cut and spliced the harness back togther. They didn't get the all the grey wires soldered together right. 2 of them fell out when I took the tape off of them. After repairing that I found that 1 of the 2 injectors I was having problems with was shorted. I replaced that injector and viola, problem solved. |
