Talking SI and EX Kill HAHAHAHA

So even with my slipping clutch is still manage to race some people. I was making a left onto this road when a SI with intake and exhuast thats as much as i knew pulls up next to me. As we pull out of the turn i floor it and slow down to let him know i'm interested. He pulls up next to me laughs and floors it. He slows down and i krep up on him. when my front bumper hits the back of his passanger door he starts flooring it in second and so do I. He has the jump but not for long i start pulling hard on him and by top of second i'm a hood in front of him. we race up to about 90 and he slows down. I pull up to him at the next red light and say what are you luaghing at you just got beat by a family car.

Kill Two:
Not so much a kill as a given.... i was racing this little fixed up civic ex cuase he keeps reving on me we race and by top of third i only had like 1 1/2 or 2 bus lenghts on him. His passenger leans out the window and tells me to go back up the road and me and my friend are thinking here comes the NOS. So he makes a u-turn and floors it off and i'm like shit this guy needs to learn how to road race so i floor it and by top of second i'm 2 cars ahead. the driver yell to me is that a six. i was like six what? and he's like V-6...i just looked at him yeah man its a six....what a dumbass.

You know that Si started pulling at the top of 3rd like always. Maybe next time we goto the strip you can run my car a few times. Time for a test pipe. Later.

You mean a 16.6 is slower than a 15.2? Wow I need to go back to school.

i'm sorry but i am going to have to raise the B/S flag.. Personally i like G20s better than a Civic, But SI's are pretty quick, Lighter than a G20 and have 15 more horsepower and can hold Shifts longer since they rev to 8500RPM with ease. Unless he was a shitty driver. I have seen many SE-R races against SIs and its pretty even until 3rd gear, the SI has more top end than the SE-R, so personally i have never seen any stock SR20DE beat a B16B/A/C stock. Not trying to flame anyone but i would have to see this one to believe it.

Oh and don't give any of the "Well my car has more torque" that don't mean shit for acceleration, torque is mostly used for pulling. Horsepower is the key factor for accelerating fast. Example:

2001 Ford Mustang 260HP@5300rpm 302ft-lb of torque.
0-60 mph: 5.5 seconds source - Edmunds and RandT

2001 Honda S2000 240hp@8300rpm 153ft/lb torque
0-60 mph: 5.3 seconds

So as you can see torque means nothing, The Mustang has twice as much torque yet is slower because it weighs more, about 600 pounds more. In this case the G20 is heavier and has less power, and anyone knows hp to weight ratio is the key.

Driver skill could be the determining factor in this yes. But if this guy doesn't know how to race then he shouldn't be racing his little fix up torqueless wonder. So go ahead and raise the b/s flag and wave it high because you'll be the only one who gives a shit. I know what happened and i saw the guy go down if it was driver error then fine next time the honda buys will have to learn how to drive.

I will add to that. I have a friend with an SI, who has a few more bolt ons than I have. I can take hime until we start hitting higher speeds. This has been done repeatadly.

To add just a little bit more to this, this is not the first SI i have raced. Prior to the header even off the line i hung with SI's up mid third then they pulled but like a header tends to do it gives you high end thus makeing me be able to pull against SI's. Also prior to owning this G20 i had a classic SE-R 1991. This car hung with SI no problem and the fact that you say torque doesn't matter is bullshit because torque work with a vehiclas wieght ratio. THe fact that you posted a Mustang with however much torque and a S2000 with the 153 pounds of torque...i don't know but if i were you i'd look at the wiegh differences first the S2000 wieghs quite a bit less and has almost as much horsepower. as the mustang you are comparing it too. So not to start a war but i just wanted to confirm what everbody else that has posted already has.

First off Si's are hondas 2nd most over-rated car. S2k being 1st(Nice car just overpriced). Torque matters in a race. The reason that an s2k can beat a mustang is 1. weight, 2. better gearing. Gearing affects torque to the driveshaft, lower gears = more torque. Oh and last but not least 70% of Si owners can't drive they don't launch the car in VTEC so the race is over before it starts because out of VTEC they are econoboxes. I've personally witnessed the demise of true sports cars losing to slow imports because the owner of the sports car can't drive, but hey all's fair in street racing.

On a rolling race, a honda car will be having a difficult time revving hard enough to get more torque, thats why a G20 might win, but from a stand still it's not hard to beat a G20... the new ones are the same engine from a Nissan SE-R.

IMO, the G20 looks nice, except for that it's only 4 door SE-R.... and it's heavy.... and expensive.

Racing on the streets really doesn't prove alot, bring it to the track where handling and power comes to play.

the curb weight for a 99 si is 2600 and the 2001 g is roughly 2900 the g has better power through out the rpm range and much better torque is why the g would when as far as a stand still i can kill a ex with E/h/i like it was standing still not sure of the specs on the ex though
