Just to prove I dont always win.

Gotian called me up about a crew gathering near my home so I figured I go out and see whats what.
Lots of RX-8s, some other mazdas and STIs and Evos. It was small and calm till a reffy dude in a Mustang GT calls me over and asks if I wanna race him.
The kid was still wet around the ankles, didnt speak the kings language.
His stang was black, no badges, no fog lamps, but the interior seats had "Jack Roush" stitched on them. I asked if I could look over the car and upon inspection saw it was a fake Roush. He either bought the seats or stole them off a real roush.

Anyway we get out to a street. wait for a light. He lights up 1st and just sits spinning. I take off but get too throttle happy and spin off 2nd at which point he caught me and passed then a car cut in front and we had to stop. w/e I consider that a loss but he wanted a 2nd round.

We find another light. He punches it and again sits there spinning. I manage to grip and just walk him in 1st, pulled off 2 cars in 2nd and then just pulled for an extra block to see if he could real me in, he didnt.

1 and 1, time for round 3.

He asks me if I mind pulling over so he can drop the preassure on his tires.
he went down from 35 to 18 lbs. we line up one last time, fucker revs up and launches a sick one. I never had a chance. I stuck it out but he got like 1 and a half car on the launch alone. I took it up to 3rd but just couldnt pull him in fast enough. He killed me.

Later I realized the guy was on Nitto drags, 255 wide. Im still on the factory all seasons. ya win some, ya loose some.

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

What else did he have done to his car? I mean, I thought that the new 'Stangs were like high 13 cars. Your car, with your mods, should be easily in the 12s. Can slicks really cut off a full second like that.

Oh, and

I was like, I don't get it. He didn't speak the kin....OHHhhhhhhhhh. And then I laughed.

that shit is gay as fuck, if i was him, i'd be embarass.

"Hold on, let me squeeze some air out because I can't launch. I also have drags on but I still can't launch, while you're still on your all-season tires and street pressure."

If it was on the track, i'd understand.

Musashi said he had drags on, not slicks, drag radials and slicks are two completely different things.

Both of the cars would still whup your ass if they even choose to waste the gas racing you. How is it gay? Hell, from my end, it looks like the guy in the stang was trying to hustle someone, and if he had money on it, yeah, I woulda done that. No different than racing someone on low boost, then cranking it up with an EBC for the next race.

At two in the morning after being up since, well, I think four that day, I really could care less about them. That even prooves my point even more. Unless he had mods like and exhaust and such, and the Roush lettering was just rice, I don't see how a stock 'Stang with just sticky rubber that is most likely in the higher end of the mid 13 range could take a GTO, that with Mushi's mods, should be in the 12s somewhere. And from what I've read and hear, the Nitto DRs (those are the 555s, right?) are pretty shit tires.

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

from inspecting the stang it looked like all he had was an ehaust and intake system, other than that we couldnt tell. Though it might have actually been a roush because it was missing the GT fog lights.

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

nice death, i always liked the name "Roush" for some reason. Seems...appropriate for a tuner. Did you ask him if he had anything done?

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

Well I should be in the 13 flat, 12.999 area with the right tires Cassies but unfortunetly the best I can muster up is a 13.4 on my crapy all seasons.
I did order new tires with better grip then what I have now but still not drag tires. I guess after my next bonus Ill get a set of DRs. For now it dossent matter since I hit the track once or twice a year.

The stang had an intake and exhaust and maybe some headers. It wassnt so much that the tires made him faster but rather that he got great grip compared to me and those precious fractions of a second add up.
I dont really care though, we had no money on it either way.

My tires are all gone though, not cause of the race but cause its been over a year and alot of racing and burning out and powersliding. poor things are all used and gone. they suck ass though Im happy to see them go. they arent even sport tires, not even unidirectional threading. they are all season premium road and highway rubber with the grip of a drunk on an ice rink.

Jorge! wassup bro! yeah Ive been to SSP but I havent gone since the baby was born, waiting till its safe to take him out again. I'll let you know when I go back.

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

what year mustang? The new ones? It could of been a Roushe, the new ones stage one is just intake and full exhaust. BUt still thats a low 14 high 13 second car.

Musashi this is a bad loss. . .not because you got beat, but because you shouldnt have gotten beat. I want you to go to an emprt marking lot and practice 500 launches. Then you may return to street racing

No shit? I always thought that with an intake, longtubes, and an exhaust, those things would definately be into the 12s. Maybe not lower than like a 12.5, but at least away from the 12.9 range. Isn't that the case with the last gen FBods with the LS1? Or have I been giving them a bit much credit.

Re: Just to prove I dont always win.

I dunno Cassies, maybe it is faster but I just dont wanna come off sounding like a cockey bastard specially since I cant stick those kinda times.
Ive seen guys with same mods nail faster then 12.9 but Im not as good as they are so Im giving myself a bit more distance.

It wassnt a bad loss, its just a loss. It was a 2005-06 stang.
