Tired 22RE

My 4runner has a stock 22re engine. It has 260 000 km on it and i just threw on some 35's and its really really bogged down. Is there anything i can do to bring the hp up a bit. The compression is good still though. I heard something about cleaning inside the throttle body??something about black Gooo???

Re: Tired 22RE

I dont' know what you're referring to about the throttle body cleaner. I mean, that's a good idea in general, but it's not going to magically free up the power to push 35's around. If you insist on having 35's, try a gear reduction. Putting 4.88 or higher gears in that would do wonders for it. Give you back all your power. You can expect to pay $200 to $400 for a ring/pinion and install kit per axle.

Re: Tired 22RE

35's are pretty big for a 4 cyl. Mine has 30x 9.50's and they're just about perfect.

Maybe some of the celica guys could help you eek out some HP. (the 22-r was an option for them.)

Actually, with your auto tranny you should have 4.30s, maybe 4.56s.

And since you have the auto, 5.71s would be the best choice with 35s, 5.29s being the next choice.
