Unhappy 2000 Z3 door handle doesnt work all the time

Having this problem since I purchased it a month ago. When I pull on the door handle it doesnt seem to grasp something inside to make the door open.

Does anyone have a clue what to do? This is getting very annoying but the car is awesome.

WELL I HOPE YOU DO NOT HAVE MY 2000 BMW Z-3, I SCREAMED TO I WAS BLUE IN THE FACE ABOUT BEING TRAPPED INSIDE MY 2000 BMW Z-3 FOR 2.5 YEARS. I HAD A LOT OF OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND ASKED BMW TWICE TO REPLACE THE CAR SINCE THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. IS YOUR CAR BRIGHT RED? DUE TO BMW'S UNWILLINGNESS TO FIX OR REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE BMW Z-3, I JUST COULD NOT IN GOOD FAITH BUY ANOTHER BMW PRODUCT.
