Yesterday while backing out of a alley, my car dropped very low and i notice some small box dragging in the back side of my car on the ground. I took my 1996 continintal to a Tuffy. They stated is was my leveling box that was hanging. While driving the car I can feel every bump on the road. Whats going on with my car and how much time do I have till it starts dragging on the ground. Will it be expensive to fix??

Re: leveling box?
It'd be nice to have a photo to go with this 'leveling box' hanging post so we can be sure how to reply....
Sounds like it might be a Ride Height Sensor that broke loose. This is more common in areas where wet & salted roads are a common thing. The sensor itself resembles a mini shock absorber. Typically the mounts break, corrode or rust through, and the Sensor falls loose. Here's a sample.. (from another model Lincoln)

Like I mentioned in my first reply, and you've completely dodged my inference to the Ride Height Sensor...... "replace the box" is not telling us exactly what you have hanging there. The Sensors don't look like a box, and there's no box under there that I can think of -- however, the hanging thing combined with the rear-end dragging seems to point to a dislodged sensor. I'm SUSPECTING the Ride Height Sensor because of your descriptions of the symptoms, but you're being a bit vague for any of us to come to precise conclusions. If you can post a picture or two, or maybe your Tuffy can be of greater assistance too? It seems to me if something hanging caused the lowering, putting it back might correct the problem.
