gauges dead... ???

I just looked at a very nice 97 Aurora but when we started it the entire gauge cluster, driver info center and climat control was inop.. The drivers seat all made a clicking sound underneath it when i tried to move it.. any ideas? I really liked this car and it only had 50k miles on it for 2500 bucks! Thanks....
Ps, checked the fuses on the driver side dash and didnt see anything wrong

Re: gauges dead... ???

Cluster may have to be replaced. I just replaced mine in my 95. We have tried 3 and two of them have the gas guage stuck on full. Electronic mechanic or dealer will have to check that one out. When mine went out, I changed all the fuses and the relay. None of it worked. However it did work from time to time.

The 95s are notorious for this, but is the other years as well?
