radio problems

hello i just bought an 89 continental signature and i have problems and things i just don't know what they are so i will start with the radio it comes on but i can barely hear anything that comes out and its a popping sound coming from the speakers. it has the jbl system so any suggestions would help also what is the headlight dimmer sensor on the rearview mirror what is its function also my drivers side power seat switch doesn't go back it does everything else but go back any help on these problems would be appreciated thanks

For an 89, you might have 100% rotted speakers. If the speakers are tested good, the amplifier might be toast or disconnected. Most folks with older vehicles and audio problems put in aftermarket systems to get full advantage of todays technology. The 1989 wrecking yard parts are hit-n-miss and a guessing game.

I don't know 100% on your's, but mine changes the mirror properties (darkens it) so that bright lights behind me are dimmed and inoffensive to me.

Sounds like the motors are fully functional, if so, the problem is the internal switch contacts. I've heard of this here before, the owner tried to clean the contacts, that worked for awhile but eventually failed. The owner would up replacing the switch assembly.
