about exhaust systems...and is stillen worth getting?

ok im wondering about exhaust systems, from what i understand, the rear section of the exhaust(the muffler) doesnt add power, just sound, but combined with a "b"pipe to make a full "cat-back" system it will increase horsepower and sound good? someone please let me know if im right, and how much horsepower would a cat-back system from stillen add? how much HP would the stillen hi flow intake add?

my only other question is....is stillen really as good as they say it is or can you find stuff that is just as good but just doesnt cost as much cuz it doesn't say stillen on it?...i guess im trying to ask if stillen is overpriced, or just good shit

all replies are greatly appreciated, thanks!!:smoker2:

I have a Steallin muffler, I would say it was overpriced but I got it dirt cheap... But I will say that the whole exhaust is overpriced in general, most Steallin stuff is. If I were you I would try and get an Apexi World Series exhaust if your looking for quite, or a Greddy if you don't mind some noise. Good luck...

hey mtrai how does your stillen exhaust sound? can you hear it TOO much inside the car or does it sound good? my other question, when u installed the exhaust did u get the pipe to hook it to the cat converter or did u just leave the stock one? if u got the whole catback system, did it add alot of horespower too?

another thing, what intake do you have? do you like it?

I just have the muffler right now, not the cat back, I'm gonna do a full 3'' exhaust, so I figured it wouldn't be worth it for me. The muffler alone is a lot louder than stock, especially when combined with my Y-pipe and CAI, but I like it, and I can't here it over my music anyway. Good luck...

All I can say is, I have the Stillen y-pipe, RT H/F cat & Stillen cat back. It's awsome!! Sounds great and offers excellent gains......Cha-ching! Oh yeh that too! I still feel that it is well worth it.:silly2:

Stillen only makes the rear-section muffler...it's not a complete cat-back system...if you're looking for more serious power gains from your exhaust, then you should think about buying a cat-back from GReddy or make one yourself!!

As far as I understand it, a tip does nothing, as long as its as big as the pipe. A full cat-back system is best, but a new muffler helps alot. A high-flow cat would be good (put it on after emissions), and headers are good. I havent read the posts, so please dont laugh.
