overheating issue...
I have a 1991 Prelude 2.1L Si. For some reason, when the temperature gauge starts to get too high (it actually max's out) the radiator fan never turns on to cool it off. It usually gets hot when sitting in traffic, and the minute I start moving the needle goes back down (from forced airflow). However, if I turn on the A/C then both the A/C fan and the radiator fans come on. They will stay on for a while, then turn off, then turn back on. Pretty normal there. As soon as I turn off the A/C both the fans will turn off and the radiator fan won't come on unless I use the A/C again. Finally, when I turn off the car, the radiator fan will come on.
Could anyone please help me here? This is actually my winter beater, so I am trying not to have to spend a lot of money on her (ie a mechanic). TIA, guys. |

inspect the fan relay. if it check out fine, then replace the radiator fan temp sensor.
