86 Cutty Question

I got an 86 cutty. I want to put in a chevy 383 or 496 stroker. I am looking for some good deals on stroker engines. Turn-key because I don't want to be running around trying to find parts for completing the engine.

Trying to get in the 500-600 HP range with the stroker.

Thanks for any help.

Re: 86 Cutty Question

You probly wont get a BB in your cutlass
The 383 strocker is the same block as a 350 just bored over with a few other internal changes, crank and cam.

Dont see you sqeezing much over 400 hp out of the 383 either.

I did a google on the stroker and heres the link...
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...or+496+stroker

Thier are tons of places, after you find some good prices call around to your local auto parts stores and see if they carry anything cheaper, plus you'd save on shipping .

Good Hunting!

Re: 86 Cutty Question

Big blocks will fit with a little mods. I see some places on the net with strokers that push 500 HP. I am asking on here in the hopes of finding some alternatives. I am trying to get around 400-500 RWHP, I mistyped earlier. I have seen some blower driven strokers that I am interested in so I might be going that route. I am trying all avenues before I commit to anything.

Re: 86 Cutty Question

Pontiac 400 which is a big block will fit and the tranny of your cutlasswill bolt up till you can afford something else. I had an 84 had to put 77 monte carlo front springs in it but 400 will fit easily makes car handle like crap though because of the weight issue. you will also need to upgrade to bigger wheels and tires because of 14 are too small. Also need to upgrade brakes and put a lower gear to give better response out of the hole because big blocks dont rev as fast put torque that make by the boatload.
