Lexus IS350 Fujimi 1/24

Hi again !

At now, my succesive model. This is Lexus IS350 from Fujimi.
As I wrote in my previus thread, Fujimi is making good products now.

It was a very short modeling project. I made the model within four days, and finished a week ago. It was good and simple job.
The Lexus is painted in SuperSilver Gunze No. 159.
On the rims is Aluminium Gunze No.218.

Regards from Poland
WJ

Looks good! I like the silver with dark tan combo. I still think there's something off about the wheels on the kit, like they are too small or lack the 3d effect of the real wheels.

I love these cars! You did a pretty nice job on it. A lot of Fujimi's newer stuff does seem to be a LOT better.

Did you use a fisheye lens for the first few pictures? The car has that fisheye bloated look to it

Something's not right...it looks like a Toyota Corolla!!! Wheels are way too small, or the fenders are just too tall?

Panel lines and window trim is great, how did you do them?

Re: Lexus IS350 Fujimi 1/24

I think it's that the wheels are a little too small, which is typical for fujimi.

Yes, a final coat that's the SuperClear II Gunze.

I didn't use any lens. All photos I'm making by Canon A530, that's typically automatic camera (setting: auto, macro).

Panel lines were made under a first coat of paint. In my opinion the technique is much better than put the lines on finished coat.

and windows trim were masked and painted by aerograph.

Model looks fantastic, but the Gunze clear does not look shiny (I am sure it is not your application, but the product itself).

Yes, it's true, but lack of shining it does not SuperClear fault.
I think that's SuperSilver, which is under the SuperClear.
He's more similar to Chrome, or Polished Aluminium where a blink is differently than classic paints.

If no special lenses were used, there is something wonky about the kit itself, at least to my eyes. You've done an excellent job, it's just the plastic itself seems to be where the problem would lie.

*shrugs* Like I said, top notch job. I just can't seem to get past the fish-eye proportions.

I've seen the kit before and it looks right. I can tell these images were taken at close range so that's where the distortion comes from.

The kit wheels are definitely too small by at least one scale inch in diameter, so the model loses a lot of the aggressive look of the IS . We now know that an IS with undersized wheels looks uncomfortably like a Corolla Someone on a Japanese modeler's website built one up and used .020" styrene card to increase the visible wheel diameter and it looked MUCH better.

that's why if you can at all help it, avoid using the macro function on digital cameras.
