Unhappy ABS INOP light

i have just aquired a 1995 camaro 3.4l and after driving it for about 100 miles i stamped on the brakes and ever since the abs light has stayed on.
and now to make things worse the driver side window has stopped working.
when you press the button you can hear a relay under the dash but that's all.
I am English living in france and don't have access to the diagnostic tools needed so any advise on how to obtain and decipher codes would be very grateful.
i must add that before i bought the car it had been stood for some time.

Re: ABS INOP light

check the brake fluid level, when that gets low, sometimes the ABS light will go on..

and if thats not it, you prolly have a busted speed sensor..

relay under dash = whirring noise or CLICK.

if its a whirring noise, your motors still spinning but something came off the track.. if its a click, you might have a busted window motor..

Re: ABS INOP light

it's not so much a click as a draining sound. i've removed all the panels on the door in order to try and run a live direct to the motor but it so darn tricky to get to it's the drivers side window with the one click opening. trying to remove the motor looks daunting as the bolts are the snap\off type i think?

Re: ABS INOP light

yeah, i think for the window motors you actually hvae to drill out the rivets, then when you're replacing it, you gotta rivet it back into place.. its a real hassle to do.. and that sucks that its on the driver side..

btw, instead of runnign power straight to the motor, why dont you press 'up' on the window switch (with the ign on) and see if it gets +12v (dmm or if you dont have a dmm get a automotive bulb and hook it up to the + and - side of the motor)
