New Optispark, Car Won't Start-HELP!
Ok, so my 97 TA was misfiring on what felt like two cylinders. I just bought a new Optispark and replaced it myself. Now, it turns over but will not start. There will be an occasional fire but thats it. It sounds like the optispark's timing is off but its only supposed to fit on one way. Any suggestions?

Sure you got the wires going to the correct plugs? Or the timing could be off. Might not of set the rotor on the #1 cylinder with it at TDC.

Re: New Optispark, Car Won't Start-HELP!
I took everything apart again and figured out that the optispark wasn't lined up correctly with the pin on the camshaft. It is keyed so that it only fits one way but it is possible to get it in the wrong place. It went on smooth the first time but it turns out the pin went into one of the cutouts for the 3 bolts on the front of the cam. Hope this helps anyone who comes across the same problem. Another tip that I learned in this proccess is if your changing your optispark, try starting it before you put the waterpump back on. This will save you alot of time if its not right and won't harm the engine, just don't run it for very long.
