Grunter, that is phat and it folds away too! Exactly what I had in mind. Now for the scary question, what did it cost? Do u have a brand and or model # so I could search for one. This would be a sweet mod

you can get a tv like that for $99. not expensive at all if you ask me. The hardest thing is to get stuff to show up on that tv. like a playstation, you would need a special converter so the ps can be powered and for tv, you would need a tv tuner box etc. thats where the real money comes in

Well, as long as the screen has Video outs, you can put anything on it. As for power, a 350W max inverter costs about 40 dollars. That is enough to power a VCR and a playstation at the same time. I would say the hard part is mounting it, if you don't get the one that will mount in the empty DIN slot.

I beleive GoodGuy's has a deal right know for an Alpine unit for $899.99 its a sweat deal. I think you get free install with it!

But the one thing they will do is hook it up to your hand brake, so that is the only time you can view or play anything.

There is a way you can wire it up so you can have it go on by a switch.

What fun is that I want to play a video game while my wife drives or watch a flick on the way to Reno! There is a way you can wire it up so you can have it go on by a switch.

Grunter,
IIRC, isn't it illegal in NZ to have a TV mounted where it can be seen by the driver?? How'd you get around that? or did you just stow it come WOF time?

Yea, wiring it up so it goes all the time is easy.
Most of the time the handbrake wire is just an earth, so you can just run an earth though a switch,
Cheers Grant

Yes it is illegal, i had it wired up though the hand break (legal) wich was all good, but i also ran another earth wire that ran though a hiden switch mounted in the glove box beside the video cd player. Flicking the switch tricked the tv brain into thinking the handbreak was still on. and flicking the swith back made it work though the handbreak wire again.
Hope that makes sence
Cheers Grunter

I was trying to stay under 200 or around 200, but I guess I'm dreaming. I like the fact that the Alpine that folds and hides itself in the slot. The screens are very difficult to find a spot to put them.

#1 is always being able to hide the screen. just like when you take off your face from the cd player. It will increase safety of getting it jacked by 65%

I do not know if you would be interested, but there are a few on eBay right now that have AM/FM receiver, built in TV tuner and CD changer controls for $349 and are made by PYLE.

go here:

or just do a search for "in dash tv" on eBay!
