HEI coils going bad..

Okay, here's the next one..
Over the past 5 months, I've replaced both coil packs 3 times..

What could cause these things to keep going bad? Interestingly enough when they go bad, I always know because #4 is always the one with the weak spark. (If that means anything)

TIA again guys. I really appreciate all your help.

The master cylinder *was* dying. It wasn't normal. So pffft. :-)~
As always, thanks for the advice though.

Re: HEI coils going bad..

Check and make sure all connections are strong and clean. Check your ignition module and agan make sure its connections are good. Also check the grounds, make sure there is a good connection. What kind of coils are you using(aftermarket, OE replacements etc.)

Re: HEI coils going bad..

Hi.. I'm not even sure, it's whatever they stock at NAPA. They're solid black, except for the plug wire terminals. The guys there know me now. I walk in and they go.. time for another set?
Last time I put them on, I cleaned all the gunk and oil residue from the area and hit it with some electronics cleaner.. I replaced the wires and plugs while I was at it too. Is it at all possible for the spark timing to be off with HEI? As in a ecu error or something telling them to fire hotter than normal? How exactly does a coil pack go bad .. kinda confused about that.
Unless the internal design of it is not what I'm envisioning.
