Re: 2000 breeze brake lights won't work
I had this same problem on my 2000 Stratus.
First, check the fuses. There are two of them. The first fuse is in the fuse block on the side of the instrument panel on the driver side. You need to open the driver door to access the block. The fuse you are looking for there should be in cavity 4, it is a 15 amp fuse. Double check the diagram on the inside of the fuse block door. The second fuse is in the Power Distribution Center underneath the hood. It is a black box on the front driver side of the car, and it should have the red positive battery cable attached to the rear side of it. The fuse in the PDC is located in cavity 4 and is a 20 amp fuse. If the fuses are ok, then you probably have a bad stop lamp switch. The stop lamp switch is attached to the brake pedal. You can't miss it. It has one electrical connector on it. Remove it by pressing on the brake pedal with one hand, then with the other, turn the switch in a counter-clockwise direction approx. 30 degrees. Pull the switch towards the seats, and remove the electrical connector. When you install the new switch, it will need to be adjusted. This is easy. Before installing the switch into the car, hold it in one hand, and with the other hand, pull the black plunger out as far as it will go. As you pull it you will hear and feel a ratcheting sound. Don't worry, it is supposed to do this. Install the switch and plug in the connector, again while holding the brake pedal away from the switch. Once installed, gently pull back on the brake pedal until it stops. You should hear the ratcheting sound again. Do not use too much force or you could damage the new switch.
This is what fixed my Stratus. Hope this helps.
