I am having problems with 99 Venture, that the emergency flashers flash OK(normal rate), but the turn signals flash very fast(3-4 times a second). All bulbs are working, but cant figure this one out. I have found the combination flasher(for the hazards and turn signals); could this be the problem?

Re: Turn Signals
Check fuses, bulbs, but this could me the imfamous ground short in the supposed all weather plug to one or both of the rear taillight assemblies coming from the harness. Is this the front turn signals or rear that are flashing fast? Do your rear brake lights work as well?

Brake lights do work, park lights work on all 4 corners; the flashers do flash on ALL 4 corners(very fast), could a loose bulb or a bad socket be the problem. All weather connector?????? Where??? Is the fix costly or easy?
I found the combination flasher under the trim panels in the dash, could this be the problem? Need to get it inspected soon. |

Re: Turn Signals
In your first post you wrote the flashers were normal rate. In your second, you wrote they were very fast. If the turn signal is flashing fast (which side?), you need to find out which bulb is broken. Put on the turn signal one side at a time and then get out of the car and look physically. The bulbs are combination bulbs. That is likely the cause. If not, then try the relay.

EMERGENCY FLASHERS are OK, TURN SIGNALS are flashing fast. ALL BULBS are OK. I DONT have ANY bulbs burnt out. I'm not an idiot; i know enough about things to check bulbs first. DUH.

Re: Turn Signals
Hello thundermtx,
No need to get testy. Never intended to imply you were an idiot. Everyone is just trying to help. My experience is that my flashers flashed normally. My right turn signals were very fast. Left turns were normal. I looked outside and the bulbs were ALL on. So I thought it was the relay. It wasn't until I left my right turn signals on and while they were on, looked outside to find out that my right front bulb was not flashing in turn signal mode. the turn signal indicator inside the car blinking fast is GM's way of indicating something is wrong. The bulb cost me $6 and did the job. If this is not your situation, sorry I couldn't be of more help.
