hatch struts
what do you do if you have a spoiler on the hatch ? the OEM struts go bad after like 6 months, if that. Do you guys know people that sell stronger ones that pretty much bolt on.

Re: hatch struts
I have the same problem. There isn't a strut around that won't end up going bad. Not to mention they usually squeek when you hit a bump. I removed the struts and have a prop bar I rigged up. I just keep it beside my subs in the back and prop the hatch up when I need it. I'd rather have a solid piece protecting my head back there, lol. Not to mention no more struts squeeking

Re: hatch struts
well, not remembering where atm, but there's a universal kit that just screws onto your hatch, if you have the ball and socket type struts.
It's pretty much the same thing you already have, but you can use dual struts on each side... it helps with the weight if you have a wing on, plus, if you get a dual set from the car with the heaviest hatch you can find (OEM style) you might end up with a hatch that when you pop it, it automatically lifts up... a nice bonus. I personally add struts to just about everything, from my deck lids on sedans to hatches and HOODS.... I love my hood popping on it's own when I take the pins out.. and yeah, I'm one of "those" ppl... just about every car I own ends up with pins in the hood and/or deck lid. lol. |

Re: hatch struts
I have seen the vice grip trick, messes up the shock if it's any good. I guess I will look around some more and see if anything else is out there.
