why compare ?
i hate it when people compare a 5.0 liter, big block, small block, and the whole nine yards to a small displacement engine.
as i quote cbass " i saw someone put 1100 in a chevelle engine and it was running 10's" ... whats the fun of that? anybody can do that wiht a breeze but wiht honda engines, you have to do awhole lot of crap but its fun and challenging and as you read about hybridsol. his car out ran a dam hemicuda that runs low 10's and as i mention not street legal but hybrids car is still street legal. us honda people know that it takes awhole lot of time and money to make a honda "fast" but when we get there we leave people with open mouths freakin out and its a wonderful feeling to make a slow car "fast"

*coughcough t-bird 5.0 cough*
The bird is slower than the SI...The supercoupe is a match for the SI.... Yah, a chevelle 454 is somewhat easy to make that fast...if you have ass loads of cash. We compair because its racing, street racing really, we dont have hp brackets, just quarter times and handling.

Why make a Civic fast other then the fun of upgrading a car? If it weren't such a trend to work on in-expensive cars right now, i'd have to laugh at even the though.
I've never lost to an import before, and was when the Bonneville was stock. If you want mix it up with a car, i think it's more fun to work on something that's already got a sporty image associated with it, and turn the thing into a time-bomb. Sure, it takes 25 grand to make a Honda a performance car. But if you take an old '68 Charger R/T or a '72 GTO and put 25 grand into it, it'll command more respect simply because of the image the car already portrays and the fact that it'll be a one-of-a-kind super hot rod. Maybe that's just me...here's another side of the argument for discussion. :sun:

Alright just shut up all of you we haven't had very many arguements about Import vs Domestic until that CRX vs Cuda post came up. Come on this place was much better without that shit.
Here's your explanation to end all: It's fucking PREFERENCE.

Anyway, lightweight engines make cars handle like nicely. When a lightweight engine puts out, it's even sweeter. But bang-for-the buck usually takes precedence over bang-for-the-pound among the unsponsored racing hardcore. (Oh yeah, and we do make cars in Canada, by the way, just so ya know. But then again, they also make cars in Mexico. Whatever.)

That's a severe misquote as well, it was a Chevette, not a Chevelle, and even if you don't know the difference, you should at least check. Hell, I know the difference between an Integra type R and a 1972 Civic. My point was, the Chevette is a slow economy car, and they made it fast for $1100. Anyhow, to get 10s out of most cars, you have to rebuild the engine. That means you have to pull the engine... I don't see how it's any harder with a honda than with a chevy or a ford...
