SPARCO shifter knob, question//

i just purchased a SPARCO shifter knob for my 2000 neon// i have it installed but the boot wont connect to the shifter properly, and it looks like shit now...you can see the shifter bar.// any ideas on something that will alleviate this problem would be greatly appreciated//
