Overhead console

Can anyone tell me how the overhead console works on a 1997 Blazer? When you turn the vehicle on it displays things such as ice, snow, etc. It then changes to the direction (N,S,E,W) and the temperature. There are only two buttons located on the drivers side of the display and we can't figure out how to get to the fuel usage and such.

Any ideas?

Re: Overhead console

I just read somewhere that if you press both buttons (US/METRIC and ON/OFF) at the same time and hold for a few seconds that will reset it. Well, I just went out and did that and it the display counted to 16 then VAR and CAL light up right beside the direction. I'm not sure what I just did but I'm hoping someone can tell me!

Re: Overhead console

It sounds like you just have the compass and temperature. My roomate has a 96 Jimmy with the same buttons and that is all his displays. I don't think the MPG, average speed, gallons used, and such was available until the 98 year (I have it).

Re: Overhead console

the full over head console with the trip/fuel mileage function was optional. i believe the sunroof console has those functions standard. the standard console that has on/off and C/F buttons will not display those functions.
