83 GLX Vert V6

Hello everybody, I just bought my 83 Mustang GLX 3.8l V6 'Vert about a month ago.

When I got it, I was on my way (about 100 miles) home, stopped to get gas and it wouldnt start... I had it towed home by AAA, and replaced the starter 2 days later. It starts up fine now, and I fixed the a non existent idle by playing with the distributor.

There are a few other problems that I am experiencing however. There seems to be a huge exhaust problem, and any help on that would be excellent, such as dealing with the 2 different CATs. Also, whenever I come to a stop, or go slow such as first shifting into a gear, it will stall out. Could that be because of the exhaust? Or maybe something with the Carb? I thought I'd take a look at the IAC but I cant seem to find it... is there one on this mustang?

For reference, as mentioned, I've put a new starter, also a fuel filter and new spark plugs and wires.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Alright, thank you. I'm used to TB, and I got bad info that told me there was. Thanks again.

Anybody else with any ideas?

Re: 83 GLX Vert V6

The stalling could be carb related, what do your plugs look like?

Re: 83 GLX Vert V6

Thanks for the quick reply, sorry I havent seen it(despite looking at it 4-5 times, lol).

I figured I need to get the carb off and clean/rebuild it, just a matter of getting time...

I replaced the plugs and wires, the ones that were in there did not look too bad but IIRC, some of them had gas on them...

Get back to me if you can.
