Unhappy "97" Grand Marquis Door won't latch to close.

Hello, my daughters' car door will not close a friend was getting out and the door latch didn't click correctly now it won't come down from inside the car. What does she need to do. To get the door to close. I believe the car is automatic. Thank you!

Use a screwdriver and have someone hold the handle up like they are opening the door. Place the screwdriver between the door frame and the metal latch. Pull the latch portion toward the inside of the door. This may open the latch mechanism so it will work properly. I would also spray the latch with a good lubricant when you get it working.
