98 Blazer Turn signal/blinker problem

Normally when you turn you turn signal on you hear the clicking sound indicating your blinker is on, well in my case that clicking sound is on all the time. The turn signal nor the hazard lights are on during the clicking and both function correctly when turned on.

The interesting thing is that the clicking will stop when ever I put my foot on the brake.

I have checked that all lights are currently working and verified the fuses are intact.

Any ideas what may be causing this.

Thanks!

Sounds like you're low on blinker fluid.....

Re: 98 Blazer Turn signal/blinker problem

The flasher/relay unit is mounted in front of the glove box. It serves both the turn and hazard signals. If it is either cycling all the time or intermittently without the flashers turned on, there is a very good chance that the multifunction switch is failing. That's the turn/hazard/cruise/wiper/dimmer switch on the left side of the column.

You may be seeing this very soon:

Re: 98 Blazer Turn signal/blinker problem

Is it possible to just disable to the dang clicking noise. Everything is functioning correctly and working as it should. The clicking is just annoying.

It looks like the part to replace this is quite expensive and i don't want to spend a bunch of money to fix something that is not causing a real problem.

Re: 98 Blazer Turn signal/blinker problem

The problem is caused by the dielectric grease in the switch. If you check the How To/Technical section, there is a very good detailed post on how to clean the switch which will stop the clicking.
