Fuel question 94 Town car

Am trying to figure out this fuel problem.

Start car and run. Plenty of fuel at the check valve. Set car for a few minutes and check for pressure. A dim spurt at best, very weak.

There is no pressure at the gas cap to release when I have driven a long time.

Would the purge control valve cause these symptoms?
Not much on them in manual.

Thank you
