Re: Serp Belt

your started is located under the intake manifold.

Your belt is held in place with a SPRING LOADED TENSIONER.

The tensioner is right under the power steering pump.

There should be a square hole in it that a ratchet will fit into and you can move the tensioner that way.

Funny you should mention that. I replaced a tensioner yesterday for a 98 Aurora, it was for the water pump on the right side though, not the left. But there was NO hole for a racthet. And yeah, I know, thats the 1st one I've seen with no slot. Maybe it was the brand, but the old, nor the new one had it ?
I had to use a lever and pry on the left side of the pulley (outter metal housing), and the front of radiator (or cover anyways), and pull towards me. Its was a PITA, I kept bending aluminum rails (thats all I had that would work, nothing else was long enough lol). But indoing so, the belt woudl fall off the water pump, and back to the drawing board lol. It only happend a few times, but only cause I ususally dont make the same mistake twice. But I ran into 3 diff dilemas. I just thought Id share that with you
