I wanted to know how much hp could i get with a aem cold air intake and dc headers on a stock d16y8 engine. what else could i do to it to gain more hp.

You'll free up a few, maybe 2-6hp. If you want any really kind of power gain, you'll need to rebuild the engine with a cam (and valvetrain) as well as high compression pistons, or go forced induction (nitrous, turbocharger, or supercharger). It all depends on what your goals are as well as how much $ you're truly willing to spend.
