Superchargers?
Are Superchargers reliable? I have a 2000 EX. I want power across the band and as much off the line as possible, thats why I'm considering Supercharger. Don't know too much about turbo vs. supercharger, thats why I'm here reading. I'm in TN and don't know of any local shops (Nashville) that would install if for me. Are they hard to install?

generally speaking with proper tuning, either form of FI can be relatively reliable. but in most cases, the jrsc has proven to be more problem-free. dont' know how much different it is for a civic, but installing a jrsc on a prelude is a bitch coz it's such a tight area to work with plus you have to relocate the oil filter, bend the brake lines and all that crap. but that's a prelude, not so sure about the civic. a good 8 to 10 hour job at least particularly if you're not the most technically-endowed. it's not like installing an exhaust or intake but it's not impossible for someone who has a fair bit of knowledge about cars. me and a friend installed mine. took a week but it wasn't too bad.

How do you like yours? I'm trying to figure out if its better to go supercharger or turbo...I haven't decided which one yet.

honestly if i were you, i'd opt for the turbo. the jrsc for the prelude is, IMO, a much better investment that it'd be for you in the civic. trust me. i'm satisified with the additional power the jrsc provided for my prelude. i got a 70+hp increase at 6psi. most civics with the jrsc only see a 40ish hp increase in power. the supercharger isn't as flexible when it comes to tuning, so the potential for a lot of power isn't there compared to the turbo. so you can spend 3000+ on a jrsc and get a 40hp bump, or spend about the same and have the flexibility of increasing boost and getting more power. if for the civic, turbo is the way to go. foget about the jrsc. i like my jrsc. but like i said, it's not gonng give you as much an increase in power as it does for the prelude.

Thanks for the info, very informative. Sounds like I might need to go turbo than. I've read that stock internals can take 6 lbs of boost. I might build the motor with better internals, before turbo, so I could have more boost, if I wanted it...

i've enjoyed my jrsc, i sure as hell didn't install it myself......but it still doesn't seem to pack the same punch my friends turboed civic does.......you defently have NO tuning options with the jrsc........no turbo lag, but not as much power, but also not as much ware on the motor. tough choice
