Suggestions PLEASE!!!

I need to get a new car really soon. I only have $4500 or less to spend. What would you guys suggest? I need something reliable, but if possible sporty. I was thinking about a gen II ford probe but im not sure. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

With the limited information provided - I am guessing you're young. If so, go with a civic and let your savings build and then go for a sporty car.

I know people with probes and they've had problems so make sure you do your research before plopping down money for one.

I had one guy describe his Probe to me as, "I have more things falling off then corners I've turned." I'd stay away from them. You might be able to get an older Supra, but that could take some looking, and I don't know about their reliability. Like Yogs said, there's always the Honda route. They aren't fast, but you can get 500,000 miles out of them if you just take care of it.

Don't forget Toyota. You could get an older Celica, MR2, or Camry. But a Tercel would probably be the best because you could afford a newer one.

Well there are alot of options for you there.

Honda: Accord/Prelude/Civic/CRX

Toyota: Celica/MR2/Supra/Camry

Mitsubishi: 3000GT/Eclipse/Mirage Coupe

Mazda: MX6/MX5/MX3

Nissan: 300ZX/240SX/200SX

And so on.

I'd shy away from Mitsubishi, as anything affiliated with Chrysler was basically a piece of crap until recently.

Forgetting Volkswagen!

Possibly a mk1-2 GTI or a Mr3 golf. Depending on quality and where you look. Don't give in to the stylish mods of honda/toyota way!

Re: Suggestions PLEASE!!!

Get a Maxima. With 4500, you should be able to get a 1997 or so. A 190hp, 5-speed manual Maxima can easily outrun a Probe GT and with 4 doors it'll be cheaper to insure. Mine has about 220,000 kms and it drives like new.
