1996 Tahoe ABS -rear wheel speed sensor

Can anyone tell me where the right rear wheel speed sensor is located on a 1996 Chevy Tahoe? Computer is giving a code for this and I cannot locate the sensor.

What is the code no?
Follow the electrical wires to the right rear wheel.
Some are made in the wheel bearing assembley.

Re: 1996 Tahoe ABS -rear wheel speed sensor

It is actually the left rear speed sensor-sorry. My wife had the mechanics at her work run the codes and unfortunately they only wrote "left rear wheel speed sensor or circuit open". They did not write down the code number.
I have looked everywhere. There appears to be a speed sensor on the output shaft of the transfer case. Would this be it?

Yes that is proably it if the code said rear speed sensor or ciruit.
But the or circuit includes wiring and plug in's.
Does speedometer work good?

But strange it said left rear.
The code no would help pinpoint it.
Or a scanner read out on the wheel speed sensors.

Re: 1996 Tahoe ABS -rear wheel speed sensor

Looking in my '98 manual, there are no individual wheel speed sensors for the rear. The signal comes from the VSS (the one you see at the tx case out put housing) to the VCM. From the VCM the signal goes the Brake Control Module. The DTC they got was probably C0235. If your speedo is working ok the problem is probably in the wiring from the VCM to the EBCM (brake control module) or could be the module itself.
