Blower
The fan doesn't work on my 1997 Ranger. I have talked to 2 other owners of Rangers and they have the same problem. They say it is the fan switch, not the fan motor. How do I check it and how do I replace it?
Thanks in advance! |

Re: Blower
First check the blower motor fuse. It's a 30A fuse. If that's OK, check power to the blower typically located on the right side firewall. If power is OK, jump the blower directly from the battery using test leads. If the motor does not run, remove it and check the blower resistor. If these steps sound overwhelming to you get some help.

Re: Blower
Check the blower resistor mounted just to the right of the blower, it has the plug in the back of it. It is a real common issue on rangers for the resistor to corrode out, specially on models with a/c. If it needs replaced, rockauto has them cheap, the parts stores around here didn't even list them. When I pulled mine out it was rust covered by green oxidization, was just nasty and for the first time since I have owned my truck I have all 4 speeds.
