1996 lumina APV
I just purchased a 1996 Lumina APV. Yesterday while working in my garage the blower motor in the van started running in high speed. I checked the switches and everything was off. The key was not in the ignition. When I put the key in the ingnition and turned it the blower shut off. Later in the day the blower motor started again on high speed. This time I let it run to see if it would shut off on it's own. Sure enough about 5 minutes later a chime sounded inside the car and the motor shut off. What's going on and how do I fix it?
Thanks in advance! |

Re: 1996 lumina APV
Possible you have a fried High Speed blower relay.
![]() Using this fan at maximum speed for long periods is just too much....the heavy current melts either the relay, or the relay socket, or both, causing cuts or shorts. Max speed should be used for short bursts only. JUst inspect that area first.

Re: 1996 lumina APV
Thanks for the response. I checked the blower relay tonight when I got home. Everything looks good. Nothing is melted. After being home for a couple of hours the blower turned on again. Ran for about 5 minutes and quit. The relay is cheap so I will go ahead and replace it.
Thanks. |
