Trans swap checklist

I need the trans, the converter, a lot of trans fluid, new gasket, sockets, two extensions, torque wrench, new rear main seal (I’m going to do that wile I’m at it, should i get a lightweight flywheel?) lock tight (what type and how much?), trans jack, normal jack for the engine, am I missing anything?

I was considering having my trans builder put a slightly higher gear ratio in it for better gas mileage, is this a good idea? what specific gear kit should I request?

If you are changing transmission always be sure to flush out the rad transmission cooler.
A good transmission jack and safety stands to put under it and a real big or bigger drain pan to catch that old fluid and some cat litter to take of what you do not catch sure does help.

Re: Trans swap checklist

I found that if you just invest in a good 3ft extention it comes in handy with a wobbly head to reach the top bolts
