The following is the Vehicle Identification Number of my 1997 Caravan.
V2B4GP25R2VR230887 Does a “V” indicate that the year is 1997? Which V, first or second? Does the “G” indicate a 3.3 L engine made by Chrysler? What character indicates the paint color (Island Teal)? What other information is contained in the VIN? |

Re: Vehicle Identification Number Information
Model year is the 10th digit:10th character- Identifies the model year. For vehicles manufactured 1980-2001, it will be a letter. 2001 and beyond will be indicated by a number (U, Z, and 0 aren't used), and in 2010 they'll start over with letter "A". For example: 1994(R), 1995(S), 1996(T), 1997(V), 1998(W), 1999(X), 2000(Y), 2001(1), 2002(2), 2003(3).
engine the 8th digit
