Which brand is better for the Nismo Skyline GT-R R34 Z-Tune?

Today I went out to finally buy a Nismo Z-Tuned Skyline GT-R R34, but I stumbled upon two brands. Aoshima and Tamiya. I was wondering which brand is better of the two? I already went ahead and bought the Aoshima cause it was cheaper, but I think I'm gonna go back to get the Tamiya as well. Suggestions?

If you've already decided you're going to get both, what does it matter?

I have the Tamiya version. I haven't built it yet, but it looks really nice.

I have neither. I have the old tami r34 and aoshima r34...Both are great. If the one is cheaper for you, then that one is a better deal.

I prefer the proportions on the Tamiya kit to the Aoshima ones. Aoshima's R34 seems a little too flat and wide. Otherwise, neither have an engine, and Aoshima's engravings are so almost as good as Tamiya's, the difference is probably academic. I will say, however, the Tami kit is going to be the jumping off point for my big, superdetail project.

I agree with Ray; you need to build both and then decide for yourself.

Re: Which brand is better for the Nismo Skyline GT-R R34 Z-Tune?

Thanks everyone for the input. I just wanted to know which one is better of the two so that I can go ahead and put a lot of time into only one of them knowing that one of them is better than the other. Just a suggestion. I'm also planning to get the Top Secret Fusion R34 and the Tom's Lexus SC430 Super GT Race car.

I agree.

Mostly due in part that it's easier to put an RB into it.

However the Aoshima version does come w/ a spring suspension gimmick.

Re: Which brand is better for the Nismo Skyline GT-R R34 Z-Tune?

Like Willimo said, Aoshima's body looks boxier than Tamiya's, but the R34 is fairly boxy to begin with, so I think it's just a matter of personal choice.

Aoshima's R34 kits also have a separate engine hood, so it's easy to add an RB26 (from Tamiya's R32 kit) inside the engine room (though detailing the rest will take some time.)

Also Aoshima's GT-R kits have the poly washer on the wheel side, making the kits compatible with most of the aftermarket wheels from Aoshima and Fujimi.

Tamiya have better technology for producing kits. Their plastic is also of a superior quality, nice in scale proportion and not too chunky.
