Question Max VS. 87 Supra

My friend has a 87 Toyota Supra (Stock Turbo) Automatic, and I was wondering if I could beat him in my 96 Maxima SE 5 speed. Personally, Im not sure. I mean it is a Supra.:sun:

well... your max has 190 hps, what about the Supra? Personally I think Supra will rip your max. I knew a kid at my previous job and he had '90 Toyota Supra turbo, but it was stick. He told me, he raced one of his friends, who owned new Acura 3.2 CL-S. His supra riped that acura in pieces on highway. I dont know man... but it worth a try, as long as you are not racing on money :bandit: Peace out

Unless you are modded heavily, you don't stand a chance, I raced one on Crenshaw about 2 weeks ago, and he pulled on me, and I'm not stock ( y-pipe,CAI,exaust)..... That thing has 232hp and 254 lbs of torqe, you know the specs on us so!!! :

Well, I've owned an '88 Supra Turbo (5-speed), have an '01 maxima now.

The Supra has mediocre off-the-line starting, but top end is enourmous. After owning both the '01 Maxima and the '88 Supra, I'd say the Supra would probably take my '01 Maxima with the 222 HP.

Simply stick a performance exhaust on the Supra and is would be good night Maxima.

you can beat him, but not likely especially if it is in decent shape. BTW those MKIIIs weigh around ~3600 I think

Yep, the Supra is heavy at 3400 lbs, but after 40mph, wind resistence hampering far exceeds weight hampering...that is where HP comes in.

Off the line the Supra is not fast, but once it is moving (>20mph) you've got a handful.

Buc, your last name wouldn't happen to be Wheat<just kidding, I did a lil research using car-stats.com and did a comparo.
The Turbo Supra will do 0-60 in 6.6 and the 1/4 in 15.2 that was using the closest year to the 87 which is 89.

Your 96 Max will do 0-60 in 7.1 and the 1/4 in 15.5 at 90 mph, but I used the 97 for those figures also the Supra didn't post their trap speed for the 1/4.
All in all though, I think it will boil down to the driver, even though his vehicle is more aerodynamically more drag coefficient than the Max, but he has an automagic and you have a stick, so if he blinks the wrong way or has too much will spin or just plain underestimate or overestimate the Max and his Supra> you'll burn him.

Just don't overrev or generate too much will spin in going for the kill.
Happy hunting:smoker2:

My first name is Mike, but I use Buc to stand for the Buccaneers, and I'll let you figure out what the numbers stand for, he he he!

Personally, I think some of the times on that Car Stat website arent correct. Right now his Supra just got fixed, but it is suffering from heat issues so I'm not sure if we'll ever find out whose is faster.:sun:
