Cool Eclipse GSX V.S Maxima

Would a 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD Turbo Beat a 96-99 Nissan Maxima SE if they were both stock.:sun:

i would say yes but it would be close. those maximas are fast. i used 2 have 1.
but if it waz stock vs. stock id give it 2 da eclipse cause its turbo n awd.
wit da awd u will get better pull on da max off the line. also those maximas make 190hp at da crank, i think those eclipses make bout 200hp+ at da crank so i give it 2 da eclipse

my eclipse beats an Altima GXE all the time, and if i am right, that should be close to the Maxima SE, and horsepower doesn't mean too much when you have a light car.

what year altima? the old skool altimas have a 2.4L DOHC engine w/ about 155 HP, its an engine from a truck so it does not really have much HP on the top.

If both were stock, the eclipse would win, but if we are supercharged (like myself) or turbo'ed (like yourself) we would win....As a matter of fact, I think it would be close if we added just a y-pipe!!!!! The SUPERCHARGER added to a stock 190 hp maxima will give us about 260 hp at the wheels!!!! :licker: :alien: :silly2: :hehe: :what: :ylsuper

you still have a FWD and off the line the eclipse w/ its 4wd system will be quicker, also eclipse is lighter :-)

So even the difference between hp, your saying the gsx would still win, lets say even if you have a supercharged max?

The one i race was the last model before they remodelled the altima. But the engine was something weak.

Thumbs up

I think Eclipse GSX AWD
Eclipse got da AWD goin and da 16g turbo.... Maxima are strong but they r too heavy. I raced a 1998 Maxima SE and beat 4 cars behind, i got the AWD boost and the turbo. ^_^!!

WHAT YOU TALKIN ABOUT WILLIS ? Thats BS, Do your homework... 97 eclipse GSX weight 3130 lbs-----95 Maxima GXE weight 3001 lbs. CHECK OUT edmunds.com
Come on now, 4 cars Like I said before I'm supercharged with a few other goodies, so no Eclipse is gonna beat "me" by no 4 cars. :licker: :badass:

Turbo, supercharged......N/A'd, it doesn't matter!!!! It's all about Power x wieght - traction. A 225 h.p. maxima that wieghs 3500 lbs on a FWD drivtrian (the worst to have for traction!!) Vs. A 190 h.p. 3200 car with all wheel drive (the best for traction) will beat the wild crap out of a max. And if for nothing else.... I see these two cars race all the time. The slightly less powerful, much lighter car with FAR SUPERIOR TRACTION owns the max. And a Gs-Turbo will too b/c it still has 190 h.p., but only wieghs 2700 lbs. Just for future use....It's a general rule of thumb that a 100lb increase is equivelent to having about 10 less h.p.
So 3500lb Max @ 225 h.p. , and a 2700lb GS-T @ 190h.p. =800lb difference and only 30 h.p. which translates to Taillights for the maxima.
and vs. the 3200lb eclipse = 300 lb difference which will tie or beat the max alone + having 4 wheels of traction (being able to luanch at 5000 +rpms and barely spin the tires one rotation = again.....tailights for the Maxima!!

The first generation Eclipse's(90-94) had a TD-05 14b, the second Gen(95-99) had the T-25 turbo's. Completely different ones. The T-25 has hella quick spool, whilst the 14b has much better top end & stronger flow. The only cars that came w/ the 16g were the Evo's over in Japan.
