01 GA GT Passlock Problems?

First and Foremost, This is a great site, alot of good info

My 01 Grand Am seems to have the same problems that I have been reading about on this forum concerning the Passlock system. I followed some the advice about the key/lock cylinder and purchased one but this didn't solve my problem. I also seemed to have a lot of other things not working, the interior lights will not come on, the key chime when the door is open doesn't work, keyless entry fob won't lock nor does the switch on the door, trunk release doesn't work and the radio won't either, the radio will come on the short time the engine runs before it shuts down. Have tried the 10 minute deal several times, no dice. When the key is on, the security light is on solid, and both the Service Engine and Service Vehicle lights stay on.

Re: 01 GA GT Passlock Problems?

Welcome to AF.

If the interior lights are not working chances are the ignition switch(not the lock cylinder) was what was bad and will need replaced to solve the problem.

On the service lights get it scanned with a high quality scan tool.
Also those free scans at the zone or other auto stores dont always read all possible codes.

good luck
