why do people knock the 3000gt/Stealth?
i've been hearing so much trash talk about the car lately... i dont own one my self, but i have driven in and driven one... it was the craziest feeling i have ever had... the responsiveness of a car taht many say is bloated... that's what i dont get about it... people say that they are shit boxes. slow. bloated. underpowered. cant turn. cant handle. ugly. and then when you ask them what a good car is, they say a damn civic or miata or other small tuner car. it just bugs the shit out of me that people call themsleves tuners, yet they have no respect for one of the legendary JGTC cars. and a great car in general. maybe it doesnt get the best gas mileage or a roomy backseat, i'd trade that for performance of it. the engine, suspesion(drool), drivetrain, and the sexy lines. so can someone explain to me just why people gotta knock on such a great legend?

Well, I'd say that the most basic and universal reason is jealousy... I know that may seem conceited on my part, and obviously I am partial because I own one.
But Basicly, these cars look like amazing supercars, they get noticed and drooled on by most people. Therefore someone driving an everyday civic gets angry that their car deosnt get as much attention. The other is that people misunderstand what these cars are. It is a 3000Gt, Gt meaning "Grand Touring", well, a Gt car is going to be a larger sportscar and in that they are "heavy" Yet really our poundage comes with better stock... well, everything really, and it is more than compensated for, it is also one of the reasons that there is no 4clylinder 3S lol. Also, take a look around the interior of a civic and you will find power locks/windows and not much else. The 3S is also a luxury type of sports car, so there are tons of options and many cool features that were stock. Those are the basic two reasons, and It is rare to find someone looking down on a 3S if they have driven one, as you felt, the larger weight is not really an issue because of the STOCK parts that are better than many other cars aftermarket parts. Alos, not many cars can beat a STOCK 3S TT, and this also becomes reason for jealousy, that the stock vr4 is so good for what civic owners try to call an "underpowered, overweight pig"

It's because our cars are so damn heavy... and slow.. shit if you think the vr4 is fast I wish I could see your face driving in a civic with a huge wing and underglow lights! Thats a real tunner car and those things scoot! in fact most the ones around here run 10's all day long.. granted I dont know they know they are on the 8th of a mile track..
ok My opinion is its all a mater of what you like.. I hate a lot of cars that people are in love with.. probably just cause I dont know about them..

Because they are heavy, cheep, and there is tons of wrong info out there about them. Combine that with young / retarded owners and the reputation is only going to get worse.
People are going to say your car sucks, deal with it.

i've gotten many compliments on my car, even with the ratty 14 year old paint job and flaking wheels. anyone that know's just a little bit about performance cars can respect a 3S, having driven one or not. and +1 on the jealousy, usually when someone is going to bash this car it's gonna be johnny the ricer with a 1.5 liter civic with type r stickers and a welded on $3 ebay muffler. i don't even see how someone can even argue about a 300hp AWD from the factory car. ignore those people, say thank you and drive away.

i hate civics!!!!!! honostly almost all honda's, s2000's and nsx's are nice, that's about it.
the only thing i dont get about the gto/3kgt/stealth, how do they weigh 3600lbs, and the skyline with all the same gadgets weighs about 3400lbs? i love my stealth(read my last post in the off topic thread), and i've driven an sl. the kid who threw up owned a civic and said my car was slow. i think the only reason "johnny ricer" is jelous is because he spent 3g on a civic and put 5g into it(for a very well done car) and he's still slower, and for that total of 8g u can get a vr4/tt(1st gen) it is the heviest car in it's class, that does hurt a little, but the car's arent ment to play in the realm of vette's and viper's, yet it can and does. no the worship isnt as great in comparison to a supra, but look at wat the supra is, far rarer and more sought after, but my stealth will screw with it in the 1/4. my biggest problem with the stealth, i have awd, i only want awd now on my cars, and that eliminates 80-90% of the cars out there. if one phrase can sum up the the 3/s it would be, beauty and the beast.

But the 3000GT never took off in japan in any racing circuit because AWD was deamed an unfair advantage. The Skyline could be made RWD very simply, but since the 3000GT is FWD based that wasn't going to happen.
