starting problem

i try to start my truck and most of the time it starts fine but every once in a while it wont.the starter and battery seem fine because when it doesnt i jump the solenoid it starts right up,is it probably the ignition lock cyl. or is there another switch on the colum.

When no start check for 12 volts to the solenoid small wire with key in start position.

If no 12 volts there check ign start system.
And always check battery cables and ground wires and for lose/dirty connections
